Course Introduction

This course provides you with the understanding and skills to successfully introduce products to markets. You will use contemporary methods and strategies that are implemented by successful startups and large organisations in the digital space and understand how to identify digital opportunities as well as launch and manage products.

You will examine the role of Product Manager, the use of customer research processes and tools to underpin successful data-driven approaches, and gain analytical skills by working with a range of effective KPIs. Through Digital Skills Academy’s experiential learning approach, you’ll also have an opportunity to apply and embed your new skills whilst on the course.

This practical course provides you with the guiding principles, methodologies, processes, strategies, and tools to market high-value products and so stand out in front of managers, recruiters or investors.

On completion of this course, you will have covered:

  • The business landscape of Product Management, the role of the product manager and the tasks and responsibilities – and their unique and powerful way of thinking
  • The Digital Product Management Life Cycle, including the lean start up methodology, and the traditional/document driven approach practiced by larger organisations
  • Performing market research and working with market requirements; analysing a business case and designing business models; mapping out product features, and developing product roadmap
  • Working with product requirements, product feedback strategies and defining your analytic strateg
  • Product optimisation and prioritisation strategies; reporting and decision-making process and strategies
  • Sustainable pricing models, strategies and techniques
  • The ability to successfully introduce and manage digital products
  • The ability to maintain successful relationships with important adjacent functions of the business

On completion of this course, you will have created a product roadmap that aligns your product vision with product goals and metrics.

As part of our application process, you will take a simple, online suitability assessment for your chosen course. Based on your answers, this will confirm that you have the skills and experience required for a successful outcome.

16 hours per week (comprising a weekly average of 8 taught hours plus 8 additional hours on average for self-study, research and group work)

You will be given a number of course-specific assignments that both reinforce the learning and give you work-based experience of applying your new skills. All assignments are subject to a rigorous assessment framework. Assessments for this specific course will include a weekly quiz and a research piece into product management.
