Course Introduction

Computational Thinking is the thought-process involved in solving problems, designing systems, assessing human behaviour and introducing innovative actions to overcome the complexity of change while delivering business results.

This course provides participants with the ability to apply decision theory, combining social psychology and behavioural economics to work-based business scenarios. You will investigate various cognitive biases and learn how to utilise a portfolio of decision-making tools from idea formulation to business solution delivery. You will also develop adaptive problem-solving techniques and build on your critical-thinking and leadership skills to deliver sustainable business solutions.

Through Digital Skills Academy’s experiential learning approach, you’ll have an opportunity to apply and embed your new skills whilst on the course.

  • Critical and creative problem-solving methodologies to excel in the business environment
  • The decision-making process from problem identification to adaptive strategy development
  • The critical ability to understand the numerous cognitive biases that impact our daily lives
  • Improved problem-solving and decision-making skills

On completion of this course, you will have created the following assets:

  • An analysis of research in the cognitive bias arena
  • The application of a bias to help improve your future decision-making ability

As part of our application process, you will take a simple, online suitability assessment for your chosen course. Based on your answers, this will confirm that you have the skills and experience required for a successful outcome.

10 hours (comprising a weekly average of 5 taught hours plus 5 additional hours on average for self-study, research and group work)

You will be given a number of course-specific assignments that both reinforce the learning and give you work-based experience of applying your new skills. All assignments are subject to a rigorous assessment framework. Assessments for this specific course include a weekly quiz and a research piece into the various cognitive biases that impact our daily lives.
