Course Introduction

Taught by an industry expert lecturer, the course examines in greater depth a number of client-side JavaScript frameworks and development methodologies, including HTML5 packaging and SaaS mobile app service. By applying the skill set gained in Part I of the course and the new methodologies taught in Part II, you learn how to build modular mobile web applications using a popular framework and package them for deployment to a selection of app stores. You will also enhance your JavaScript knowledge.

Through Digital Skills Academy’s experiential learning approach, you’ll have an opportunity to apply and embed your new skills whilst on the course.

This course is for participants looking to build on the skill set gained in the Mobile & Device Development Part I course and build greater expertise to develop cutting-edge and ready-to-launch mobile web applications by using complex frameworks and developing best practices implementable in the marketplace. 

On completion of this course, you will have covered:

  • The implementation of a packaged HTML5 web app using a client-side framework
  • Packaging a mobile web app in the correct format for deployment to a variety of app stores
  • Best practices and workflows for client-side app packaging
  • How to utilise a SaaS based mobile app built service
  • How to work with industry standard client-side JavaScript frameworks to produce a mobile app

On completion of this course, you will have created a mobile web application built in a popular and industry standard client-side framework.

As part of our application process, you will also take a simple, online suitability assessment for your chosen course. Based on your answers, this will confirm that you have the skills and experience required for a successful outcome.

18 hours (comprising a weekly average of 9 taught hours plus 9 additional hours on average for self-study, research and group work)

You will be given a number of course-specific assignments that both reinforce the learning and give you work-based experience of applying your new skills. All assignments are subject to a rigorous assessment framework. These will include weekly quizzes and a large piece of work focusing on a popular front-end framework.

Do I need a mobile phone to complete this course?

While some coursework does require you to produce a mobile app, you do not require a smart phone for this course as various emulators can be used to run the client.
