Course Introduction

Taught by an industry expert lecturer, the course introduces participants to the theory and techniques required to build Mobile Web Applications. Mobile and Web Applications have significant constraints and differences with respect to traditional web development, and this course will prepare participants for this style of development by focusing on best practices and established methodologies. 

Participants will study JavaScript libraries, analyse packaging trends for applications using particular client-side frameworks, deploy a Mobile Web Application and develop analytical and critical-thinking skills.

  • A JQM list app
  • An Angular app

This course requires that participants have already successfully completed the "Web and Device Programming" Online Short Course as a foundation.

As part of our application process, participants will take a simple, online suitability assessment for their chosen course. Based on their answers, this will confirm that participants have the skills and experience required for a successful outcome.

14 hours (comprising a weekly average of 7 taught hours plus 7 additional hours on average for self-study, research and group work)

Participants will be given a number of course-specific assignments that both reinforce the learning and provide work-based experience of applying new skills. All assignments are subject to a rigorous assessment framework. Assessments for this specific course cover JQuery and Angular JS. Participants will also take weekly quizzes.

While some coursework does require you to produce a mobile app, you do not require a smart phone for this course as various emulators can be used to run the client.
